Vietnamization
Vietnamization was a policy that was created by Presdient Nixon during the Vietnam war. It was in response to Vet Cong's Tet Offensive which was to “expand, equip and train South Vietnam forces and assign to them an ever-increasing combat role, at the same time steadily reducing the number of U.S. combat troops”. The US was training South Vietnam’s forces to fight for our side. Due to the fact that US was starting to reduce their troops, except this policy did not apply to the air force. The policy began in February 1969 and continued until 1973.The US was training South Vietnam’s forces to fight for our side. Vietnamization had two components. The first was to strengthen and equip the Southern Vietnamese forces. The second part was an extension of the Pacification Program.
